North Florida Archers meeting minutes
June 02, 2020

The Club Meeting was called to order by Club President, Mike Chesser. The Pledge of Allegiance was completed and a Moment of Silence was observed for the First Responders and Men and Women serving our country at home and abroad.

The Club Secretary read the minutes from the last Club Meeting.

The Club Treasurer provided a summary of Club Activity.

  • Checking and Savings balances are sound: usual and customary expenses related to club operations.
  • Extra expenses are on hold for now due to loss of revenue related to Covid-19 shutdown.
  • The Club has completed the setup of an online Payment System to allow members to make online membership payments.

Club President Michael Chesser had the following talking points.

  • City has allowed Club Shoots to resume.
  • Working Man Shoots start next Tuesday.
  • Traditional and Compound Shoots are scheduled for Jun 6 and 7.
  • Tom Swift Traditional Rendezvous is scheduled for Jun 12, 13 & 14.
  • Monthly Shoots scheduled on Event Schedule are back in play.

Mike has received a membership package for ASA. It would get our name in the hat to host a qualifier and bring some exposure to the compound side of the Club. ASA membership could have a positive impact on club expenses for Insurance costs in 2021 for Liability Insurance. Thirty Target Shoots.

Mike made a motion to Join ASA, it was seconded and passed with a unanimous "FOR" vote. Current Club Members who also hold ASA membership should email nfarchers@gmail.com so that information can be included in application.

Mike also noted that with City Guidelines, social distancing applies to all shoots. Members can wear masks if they want to.

For the Traditional Shoot on Jun 6, registration starts at 8, shoot starts at 9am. For the Compound Shoot, registration starts at 07:30 for Money Classes with cutoff at 8:45 - Shooter Groups choose your start lane on the board to enable a prompt 9am start.

Food Truck will be onsite for all the Jun Shoots.

Mike anticipates that Bob Keaton will host a Compound Madness event or two over the next few months.

The Motions which were approved for 30 day review were briefly discussed prior to voting.

  1. The Bylaw Change to Article 4, section 7.a Board of Directors to remove the 5% representation rule and to set the number of Board Members to 10, plus the Chairman of the Board.
    • Board of Directors shall consist of a representative body of active members with a maximum count of 10 board members. Active members are members who are present at the club for various club events and have ongoing participation in club activities including but not limited to special work days, Tuesday Working Man Shoots, Monthly Shoots, special events, monthly club meetings.
      • The Bylaw change for Article 4, Section 7.a was approved by unanimous vote.
  2. The Bylaw Change to Article 4, section of the Club President to remove the 12 month restriction after 4 terms to enable he/she to hold a subsequent elected position. Wording would be changed as follows:
      • Club President can serve in that elected role for up to 4 consecutive terms; when completed, he/she may run for election of any position not currently held.
        • The Bylaw change for Article 4, section of Club President was approved by majority vote.

       

      Bylaw changes go into effect in February 2021 after elections for new Club Officers.

      • Field Archery update - Mike Shea
        • Certification by NFAA would require membership in NFAA - not going to pursue at the present time.
        • Plan to have a few "experimental" field course shoots like 28 target Animal Round in the coming months, once club activities get on track.
      • Ongoing revenue discussions have resumed, send us your ideas!
        • Adding Summer Coon Shoots
        • Spot Tourney at the bales
        • Other Ideas needed
        • Target Fund Contributors of a minimum $50 get placed on Board.

      General Reminders for the Following;

      • Compound and Traditional Shoots will be split into different days in 2020 - schedule now active.
      • Shooter of the Year Changes for 2020 - $10 Fee to help defray costs - deadline to sign up has passed.
      • December 20, 2020 is the NFA Christmas Party
        • Reminder to ALL: The LAST ONE OUT at any time during the day - LOCKS THE GATE!!!

      There being no further business, a motion was made and seconded to adjourn.
