North Florida Archers meeting minutes
March 04, 2020

The Club Meeting was called to order by Club President, Mike Chesser. The Pledge of Allegiance was completed and a Moment of Silence was observed for the Men and Women serving our country at home and abroad.

The Club Secretary read the minutes from the last meeting, minutes accepted as read by Membership.

The Club Treasurer (absent) provided a summary of Club Activity for February 2020 to Michael C.

  • Checking and Savings balances are looking good with usual and customary expenses related to club operations.

Target fund contributions have increased.

NFA membership data for February was not provided.

Club President Michael Chesser had the following talking points.

  • 1st split weekend of Compound and Trad shoots are right around the corner.

  • Tuesday Working Man Shoots start Mar 10 (next week).

  • Trad Rendezvous coming up in April

    • Need help with Setup, Range is predominately clean and ready.

      • 40 Targets

      • Coon Shoot

      • Lane Sponsorships

      • Raffle

      • Tom Swift

      • Iron Man

      • Food and Trade vendors anticipated.

    • Fencing between Tillie Fowler and NFA is complete. Thanks to all participants and to Butch for leading the effort.

  • Discussed shoot fees and cash payouts with input from Mike Shea and others.

    • Agreed that Club Shoot fees for NFA 20 target shoots will be $10/adults.

    • Agreed that cash payout for the 20 target shoots will be an extra $10 to participate.

      • All monies will be paid out to each class with participants.

      • Mike Shea agreed to coordinate and train personnel on payout procedures.

    • Tuesday, 10 target shoots remain $5 with cash payout participation an extra $5. 

    • Tuesday cash payout to follow the presently used payout breakdown by class.



  • Pending Items for Web Portal:

    • Online Payment of membership dues has had a lot of interest. 

    • Butch White would like information about target fund raffle for contributors to be posted on web portal.

  • Ongoing revenue discussion:

    • Adding Summer Coon Shoots

    • Spot Tourney at the bales

    • Other Ideas needed

    • Target Fund Contributors of a minimum $50 get placed on Board.

  • Field Archery update - Mike Shea

    • Target the Animal Course for Validation by NFAA and host Animal Round Shoot in 2020!

Special Guests!

Bill McKinney and Bill Gilliam of Southern Sportsman Outlet, one of our Sponsors and both NFA members attended the Club Meeting and brought the following for discussion.

The Southern Sportsman Outlet will be hosting a Weekly Traditional League from March - May (12 weeks). Targeting Thursday evenings from 6-9pm.

Longbow, Recurve, Primitive bows welcome, no sights or stabilizers, must be 16 years or older.

League will feature NFAA Indoor 300 Round Shoots and Vegas Shoots using NFAA approved targets on alternating weeks.

$50 for all 12 weeks, prizes and big dinner at the end. Contact the Archery Pro (Tom or Bill) at Southern Sportsman Outlet with any questions. (904) 903-2745

General Reminders for the Following;

  • NFA Tom Swift Rendezvous April 10-12, 2020.

  • Compound and Traditional Shoots will be split into different days in 2020 - See Event Schedule.

  • Shooter of the Year Changes for 2020 - $10 Fee to help defray costs - sign up in January.

  • December 20, 2019 is the NFA Christmas Party

    • Reminder to ALL that the LAST ONE OUT  at any time during the day - LOCKS THE GATE!!!
